1988 D dime MM not over last digit in date

The "D" MM is not over the lasr "8". Is this common? I could not find another on like this one, they were all over the last digit in the date.

It wasn't until the early 90's that the mintmark was made part of the working hub.

Mintmarks used to be hand-punched into the die so you'll probably find many examples that don't quite match. If you take a look at most Kennedy's from the 70's & 80's, you'll see the mintmark is all over the place.
