I forgot to offer a greeting and welcome so here it is. Greetings and Welcome The term MS-67 or MS-68 stand for Mint State (MS) an uncirculated coin fresh from the mint. The number (1-70) refer to the numerical grade of the coin. 1 being the worst condition a coin can be in and 70 being perfect. S a MS-67 or MS-68 coin would be nearly a perfect example. Here is a valuable link. It will answer many of your questions. http://www.pcgs.com/lingo.chtml Again Welcome Ben
They are grades---just like: AG, G, VG, F, VF, XF, AU, MS60, MS61, MS62, MS63, MS64, MS65, MS66, MS67, MS68, MS69, MS70. PF60, PF61, PF62, PF63, PF64, PF65, PF66, PF67, PF68, PF69, PF70. I would suggest as a young collector you start out by buying the ANA Grading Guide and Photograde. Speedy
Speedy is correct.... I bought one of those books and was given the other one and they stay on my desk.... Both helped alot and continue to help...
Hi and welcome to the forum. You also need to get a "A Guide book to US coins", or as it is also called "The Red Book" Borders and Barnes & Noble carry them. The price is about $16.00. If you only get one book, that is the book you should have. Hope this helps.
Hello Steve, First of all, if you stay on here long enough, you'll find that there is never a stupid question. I would suggest also that you either pick up a copy or two of coinworld, or better yet, get a six month subscription. It comes once a week and has alot of useful information.
