Personally I do not have a problem if you buy a CAC coin at a reasonable price or small premium. They can be a learning tool. But I also think you need to be able to grade the coins and determine if it is strong for the grade. I would not buy a coin just because it has a CAC sticker - I have seen too many PCGS, NGC CAC stickered coins on heritage that I would not touch. Also as far as ebay goes - prices can be ridiculous at times. Especially if you throw a CAC sticker on the coin. Just my humble opinion.

  3. Should I send this error in to get officiated?[IMG]

I am not sure. I would like to see a close up of the edge. If the real deal, there are Ike collectors that would drool over it.

That would be very pricy because I don't think they are eligible for submission but I may be mistaken. I almost pulled the trigger on a 64 Kennedy in MS67 that would be a good CAC candidate......but I didn't see that they accept them which seems odd since they do Ikes. I may be wrong though.

I will have to let the experts chime in on this because that looks like post mint damage. If it was mint damage it might be worth slabbing but I am just not sure. Sorry I can be of more help.

Well I got it in today and it is very nice. I can see why it was CAC'd. I am not sure if I will get another CAC coin but you never know.

Looking at it I wonder how easy it would be to take that green bean and stick it on another slab. That worries me.

BTW Ethan, when you buy slabbed coins, do you look up the certificate number on the NGC and PCGS websites? It's a wise precaution, especially if you get into more expensive territory.

Usually I do and I have not for my latest batch. I will do that now.

Granted, I do not have many that are over $50 but I still check them when I can.

They all checked out, saved jpgs of them. Cool :)
