Volusian AR Antoninianus, Rome mint. 251-253 AD OBV: IMP C C VIB VOLVSIANVS AVG, Radiate, draped and cuirassed bust right. REV: VIRTVS AVGG, Virtus standing right, holding spear and shield. REV: RIC IV 206, RSC IV 133 I was going to get a higher grade Volusian for about the same price but our good friend Rudi passed away and that particular coin was returned to the original owner and he sold it before it could be communicated that I wanted it. It was too late, oh well. lol And so I found this one and decided to purchase it. Wikipedia copy and paste - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volusianus
Whoa => you have certainly been buying-up a few coins recently, eh? (well done, my friend) ... I like your new Volusian addition (too bad about the circumstances surrounding your previous purchase ... the whole Rudi situation was obviously very sad (RIP))
Oh yeah, had to get my coin fix. Been wanting some for awhile. Yes, it was sad about Rudi passing away especially since it was sudden and seemingly unexpected as far as I know. He did sell me coins of course but unlike many other dealers, he had a friendly face and talked to people all the time, mostly on Facebook. Unfortunately, there are 3 coins that I'm waiting on that I have already paid for that I haven't received yet and it's been almost 3 months perhaps. A Soloninus, Lucius Verus and Lucilla. His daughter told me that I would get the coins when they are ready. Trying to be patient.
Nice addition. Look forward to seeing your Lucilla too. My volusian, unlisted in ref. Volusian (251 - 253 A.D.) O: IMP C C VIB VOLVSIANVS AVG, radiate, draped and cuirassed bust right.
