On Sunday night, I found a 1900 Indian head penny. On Monday, it was a 1964-D silver dime. I was off Tuesday. I found a dateless buffalo nickel on Wednesday, and on Thursday a regular customer who knows I collect gave me a 1937 buffalo nickel. An IHC, a silver dime, and two buffalo nickels in four work days is a pretty good haul.
Wow, congrats. I check my handful of change every night when I get home and nothing... I think most silver coins have been taken out of circulation at this point, and now the more "rare" nickels and cents are disappearing too. About a year ago I got a mercury dime in change, but that's the last coin I can remember. You definitely had a good day.
There aren't many silver quarters, but silver dimes are surprisingly common. I've found 35 or so in the last year.
I'm still struggling to tell the difference between the two. I learned the difference between the small/large date 1960 penny by the size of the 1 (it is taller on the small date in proportion to the other letters) and the difference between the wide and narrow rimmed SBA dollar because the space between the 1 and the bottom edge is much smaller and it makes the date look "off".
Yep its a very minute difference. This article is pretty good -- http://koinpro.tripod.com/Articles/1970S1cSmAndLgDtCompare.htm Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
Please help me identify this one: small or large? The article is helpful but as you said, the differences are hard to detect.
