I paid for a coin a week and a half ago from Heritage and it still hasn't shipped. Is this long handling time unusual?
How did you pay? Check or E-check. 7 days to clear. Was it an auction at a major show? If yes then you have to wait till they get back to Dallas. I've gotten my coins before a tracking # and even before I've paid (check was still in the mail)
Major auctions cause major delays - particularly so if they are not in Dallas. I think I have waited a couple or three weeks for a coin purchased in one of the signature auctions.
That's why I buy from Great Collections. I buy on Sunday, it's always shipped Monday (from California) and I receive Wednesday or Thursday (in North Carolina). Except for this past week, they forgot to ship my coin until I emailed and reminded them. Still got it on Saturday. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
I paid through paypal. They claimed that they received the payment on May 7th. It was just a normal auction online.
I bought my first coin from them online during their signature auction in Chicago. I bought another one that same Sunday night on one of their Sunday auctions and another later the next week at a Tuesday Auction. All were paid immediately upon email invoice via paypal. I called the Monday after the 2 I bought on Sunday because they had separate shipping for each auction invoice, thus about $26 for shipping. They said they couldn't combine shipping. I was a bit surprised by that. It took them 2 weeks to ship the original order and they lumped all 3 auctions into one shipment. I was not happy with the fact they charged separate shipping for all 3 auctions yet shipped them all together. I got charged over $35 for about $1100 worth of coins and it was just dropped in the mailbox with no signature or anything. That kind of surprised me. Unless I pick something up in the future at a great price and don't need it in a hurry I will probably pass on them in the future. But sadly I am eying a few coins at their next signature auction. I will say that I am not a fan of their Sunday/Tuesday auctions. You never know what you win until it's basically over and they all seem to end at the same time. Hard to budget a buying spree. If I want to spend $1000, that's all I can bid to, yet I might walk away with nothing or just $500. Nothing worse than only winning a $70 coin and paying $8 shipping. Not my favorite format to continue visiting. If they spaced the ending times just 30 seconds apart I could keep better track of what I win/lose and it might tempt me to bid on something that originally wouldn't make my A list but knowing I still had budget money I could bid on. They do have a nice inventory though and a great research tools.
I have. Good service with mediocre prices. The nice thing is that the coins in hand always look better than their scanned pics.
My experience, Great Collections and DLRC ship fast, Heritage ships very slowly. Most coins I buy on EBay also ship fast.
