A half franken/franc coin from Switzerland (image borrowed from Wikipedia ...). Why "1/2 Fr" and not "50"? Because in earlier years those were silver pieces, and a 2 Fr coin had to be twice as heavy as the 1 Fr while the 1/2 Fr had half the weight. Christian
