The obverse is very standard struck through grease. But the reverse has stumped me. I don't see how grease alone could cause this effect.
I pondered a broad strike but how could the reverse be hitting the reverse ? A coin could get stuck but flipped and not ejected... and just in the center. No not really possible. So what a die clash ? but again reverse to reverse how would this even be possible ?
I am down to a cracked die verses a struck through something ?
If you have ever seen anything even close to this please tell me, so I research it, I am stumped.

None of you seem smart enough to give and answer... I hear you yackin about what you Guarnteeeee but not a word about what caused the effect. How a coin came to be how it is a very different question than what you think it is worth, so ponder your own ability to reason when you say the answer wouldn't be different. People who are like wheel barrles and move only when pushed and that are to easily up set bore me. Get real or miss me o.k. ?

Sorry! I'm too dumb to give you a definitive answer, but what I can tell you is smart-aleck remarks like this will not endear you to anyone on these forums or most other sites, for that matter.

Granted, someone could have taken the time to explain to you that it is perfectly okay to combine your questions in one thread to try to get the best responses, but even though they didn't, no one called you names or suggested that you were dumb.

I am wondering who got upset easily? But I better shut up as I am among those who aren't smart enough to "give and answer"...

I am a member in good standing at CONECA and there folks don't take the truth as an implied insult. I said none of you have said anything, and ventured it was because you didn't know and you were able using selective reasoning to let your self feel CALLED STUPID or was it dumb ? And have ran off about that for ever and still have not shared with us mere mortals the great truth you pretend to with hold about the error on the coin, does this really work for you ?
I could point out just how many people on other sites mention often how the rack of pool balls the 9 the 8 there is a group of you following that smartest among you who is so sure he is right because after all look at all my followers. As I said on other sites it is a joke about how WRONG you are about coins. My request to have you miss me feel on deaf ears so I will go to a site that cost 25.00 to join but doesn't have a pack of geeks blabbing off at the mouth saying nothing, so loudly so often no one else can speak.

Your coin looks like it has been damaged from something striking it after it left the mint.

This won't get you any answers here.

This sure makes the first statement look like the pot calling the kettle black. What exactly is a "wheel barrle"? I have heard of wheelbarrows, just not wheel barrles. Please, enlighten us.

The Memorial appears to have been damaged after the coin entered circulation. The best evidence of this comes from some of the columns, which are flattened.

If that much PMD occurred to a zincer I'd expect some zinc exposed?

OP, did you weigh this coin?

pushing straight down on a zincer will not remove the copper plating. the plating is removed when something scrapes across the coin .

Removal not required to expose the underlying zinc. Smooshing a device is not necessarily a 'straight down' only thing.

Most of the time it is impossible for anyone to know exactly what caused a coin to appear as it does. I'm not as smart as most of the "stupid" people here, but I'd like to suggest that you take your questions, and your smart a$$ attitude, to the people at CONECA where you might (I seriously doubt it, though) get the answer you're looking for.

Rustywrenches, you've heard from one of the best, if not THE best, error experts, Mike Diamond, past President of CONECA and host of Error Coin Information Exchange. Everyone here at CT, and elsewhere, trusts his opinions without questions.

You say that you are a member of CONECA, yet even Mike is not smart enough to answer your question says much about you. You have not managed to garner any respect here.
