What is a full set of 1938 - 2014 Nickels Worth?

I only have about 7 more Nickels to find and I am considering purchasing them. Is it worth spending nearly $7-$10 per coin to complete this set? These are all circulated coins that are in pretty good condition as i have replaced any worn ones over the years. Would anyone know a ballpark estimate as I don't want to spend $70-$100 if it won't be worth that over the decades.

    Thanks for any help

It's probably not worth spending that much if your goal is to sell at a profit later. A complete circulated set will get you around $1 each for the 11 war nickels, a few bucks for the 1950-D, maybe a few bucks for the 30s-mintmark issues, and not much more than face value for the rest.

If you'll enjoy having the complete set, spend what you're comfortable with, but it's not a good "investment".

(On the other hand, nickels are about the closest thing we have to "hard currency" right now, containing very close to five cents worth of copper and nickel each...)

Thanks, there a lot of coins to take photos off that are in Harris folders. They are all pretty much standard quality. My hope is to gain value as a "set" rather than individual or metal worth. I plan to pass these on through the generations.

'Tis true. I'd personally refrain from buying them individually. I worked on a Roosevelt Dime set for a long time and was nearing completion, when I realized I could have bought the set already assembled in BU for about 1/2 of what I had already spent. :-(
