One more hole filled in my Red Book Braided Hair large cent set. Only 4 to go now. http://www.ebay.com/itm/231224673402?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649
1840 Small Date, Large 18 (only an R-2 so it shouldn't be difficult) 1842 Small Date (two varieties, one an R-2 and the other an R-1 so it shouldn't be difficult) 1843 Petite Head, Large Letters (only an R-1 so it shouldn't be difficult) 1843 Mature Head, Large Letters (four varieties, one an R-2 and another an R-1 so it shouldn't be difficult; other two are an R-3 and an R-4) Assuming I've ID'ed them correctly I should be able to get one of each. I wouldn't be surprised if there are a bunch of them out there in unattributed slabs. May be able to get them cheap.
It seems that when one gets down to the last few coins to complete a set no matter how easy it would appear to acquire them they turn out to be the hardest to locate when actually looking for them. Congratulations on your new purchase and happy hunting for the remaining four pieces.
Aren't there a bunch of copper disease corrosion spots on that coin? Is that really acceptable in a trouble-free XF slab?
Tell me about it! I need a stupid 2004D Texas quarter to complete my set from circulation... been looking and searching rolls for weeks.
Congrats, I did not realize medium date 1846's sold for a premium. I outstanding coins should not be too tough to find. One of the mature head 43s, N-17, is an R5 and sells for a large premium, but all the other 3 varieties of mature head 43 do not really command a premium.
