Well, today is my birthday.....no HBs necessary.....and my wife lays $500 cash on me to buy something I like. So I am torn between a nice either MS65 or MS66 1882-CC, 1883-CC or 1884-CC Morgan or upgrade a Peace dollar from what I currently have. The Morgans would be an upgrade too since my CCs are all below 65. Oh, what to do!!! I have been doing some searching on Ebay but it's a hard decision!!! Even if it's more than what she gave me, which most likely it will be, adding the difference is no problem depending on how high I decide to go. Sigh!!!

    bdunnse Who dat?

Re-gift it to me. I have a birthday this year too. :woot:

I'd be inclined to buy a coin I don't have versus upgrading one I already had. But as always, collect your own collection! HB.

I think she would be a little upset if I spent $55k on a coin, although if I ever won the lottery I'd sure do it!

Ya, I have thought of that too. But I'd sell the one I replaced and maybe fill in a hole that way.

Buy a nice CC toner, and take her to dinner. Everyone wins.

And buy the coin that appeals to you more. (yeah, I know that's not really helpful :( )

I would go for the high grade CC. Or search around on Heritage for something with nice eye appeal that won't break the bank. I know I would get a DMPL Morgan with $500 :)

Take your time . . . you don't have to buy it on your birthday.

You're almost guaranteed better results if it takes you 4 weeks to find the coin than if you find it in one evening.

She took me to dinner....lol. I am not in a big rush and I have been looking at several coins. But I see a lot of 65s that have "stuff" on the cheeks, etc. I want a nice clean smooth cheek on a Morgan so I am looking through a bunch narrowing it down. Also like to have a green bean on it to make it my second in my collection of Morgans.

Hey Keemao(sabe)? Wish the devil I was in your shoes. :)

Do like Treashunt said in an earlier thread and buy a Bustie. You could get a terrific high grade example with that jing (such a darling woman your dear wife is).

In the end, you'll pay heed to none of us and buy what you truly want. That's as it should be. Happy Birthday dear fellow.

Keemao is Thai...though it's my wife who is Thai. So no Indian here. Yes, I'll end up buying what I want in the end. I have looked at some real nice Peace dollars in the 65-66 range.

Since it is special, and should stand out, get something unexpected, an oddball, something you do not already have. If dollars are your thing then maybe not a Dollar, if only Morgans are, then get a Peace, or an oddball. Something when you see it, you will remember how and why you got it.

    PS HB...

Just having some fun. Hope I didn't offend. Not my intention but I've been known to 'step in it'. Sorry...........
