Looking into buying this coin. Not so much what its worth but I just want some opinions on it. Would it be something cool to have with the idea in mind that it will become very collectable in the near future? Thanks...

It sure is a nice coin with great aesthetics. As far as collectability I think this coin could become very popular with scientists, astronomers, and young ones with an interest in outer space. In other words it would appeal to the vast majority of what some would call nerds. Here is a picture of the coin below for those who have yet to see it.

    Highly unlikely.
If it appeals to you then buy it.
But don't expect it to be an investment item.

Very collectible (aka very valuable) in the near future? I doubt it. Cool to quite a few folks? I think so.

By the way, I am a scientist and I would not be attracted to that coin.

I agree with Tom and Kanga on this one, but don't let that fact deter you from buying the coin if you like it.

And welcome to the forum Sergio.........:)

IMO, the design and coloring looks WAY to crowded to me. there are too many things going on! and the coloring does not help! It looked like someone threw up on it for a sec.
Other than that, its a good coin, i guess.

Thanks for the reply, I really don't know too much about coins but I'm an astronomer and it seems to be popular on Ebay. So I was wondering if I bought it would it eventually go up in value (what ever that might be) or is it just a toy? I mean if I wanted to re-sell it 5 years from now would I at least get my money back? Thanks...

Is this even a "coin"? Denomination? What country?

Since when does "very valuable" = "very collectible"? The State Quarters are massively collectible by all kinds of people young and old, but they are not any more valuable than face value. Just wondering when collectible took on the synonymous meaning as valuable? I certainly don't think of them as such.

Hi Sergio, I am a scientist also , and a long time collector and to me the coins are just a 'gadget' to get money. They have a huge premium , but the neat thing is that if you buy, do so with "I am going to keep it until the sun goes!"

speaking of which here is Today's science site on my favorites. nice sunspots!

    Welcome to the group! Jim

They do not have to mean the same thing and they often do not mean the same thing. However, in the context of the question by the OP, since the OP wrote both "worth" and "collectable", I was simply grouping the two terms together. Nothing more, nothing less.
