Last week I purchased a complete NGC Registry Jefferson Nickel collection sight unseen. To my surprise, when I opened the package, the 1945-P used to be mine when I was a collector. A uniquely toned MS67 with an almost cameo appearance on the reverse. Now I get to sell the same coin for the second time. Guess it was bound to happen sooner or later!
"used" to be a collector? News to me... Nice coin. Why was it sight unseen, did the registry set not have pics?
The only reason I buy anymore is with the intention of making a profit. I am not a full time dealer, but I am not really a collector either.
I have collected many series other than Jefferson Nickels in the past including Morgan Dollars, Peace Dollars, Franklin Half Dollars, Barber Quarters, Standing Liberty Quarters, Mercury Dimes, Roosevelt Dimes and Classic Commemoratives.
Nice title. I've actually had this happen to me once before, although I forget with what. On a side note... So, are all the coins you currently have in your possession just "inventory" then? Or are you keeping bits and pieces of your collection and liquidating the rest for profit? And surely you still have your main registry collection, no?
I am sure he does. Takes a lot of knowledge and getting coins at the right price to make a profit. lehigh knows his stuff.
I know enough about most silver and nickel series to make a profit buying & selling coins. I don't deal in copper or gold coins though.
