I'll have to take a picture of my 63-S that I got at the last Baltimore show. It's a nice original VF-30. Stay tuned.
This is all I have right now. But I have a two cent piece coming in the mail! Sent from my iPod touch using Tapatalk
Still one of my favorite coins, even with the hole. Through die research done by Randall Wiley, I was able to identify it as from the last batch of halves struck in New Orleans by the confederates, before the mint was shut down in 1861, due to a lack of silver and the war. I'd like to think it was worn around the neck of a confederate soldier or southern sympathizer.
While 1869 was well after the war had ended, it was in the middle of the so-called "reconstruction period", so close enough and still an era of great historical significance, albeit an unfortunate one. Looking forward to photos of the new 2C when she arrives, and welcome to the forum.\ That I do, sir, and very much so. Nice!
