What's the grade and Approximate value of my 1838 capped bust quarter? Sorry about the shadow this was one of the harder coins to photograph.
No grade . . . Fine details, possibly VF details, depending on how charitable the graders are feeling. I think despite the problems, the original look will get it the VF details.
Yeah put the problems it had in mind when buying it and knew more then likely it wouldn't grade... What would you think the value would be with it's problems?
I'm not sure it's like a hard scrape but I'm not sure if it took a really hard hit or if it was tooled.
VF details: scratched/dented. (Problem coins are gradeable these days you all realize right? Even PCGS and NGC will grade problem coins now. "Ungradeable" is an obsolete term lol...). Personally, I wouldn't mind owning something like that. It looks like it was actually used. I don't mind old coins that actually look old. Besides, all the details are there, even the worn down details you can still see a hint of what was there. It's got a lot of character still.
