I recently received my BOH silver uncirs back from PCGS, all 4 ms70's... awesome. My question is, who has experience sending off coins in uncir mint sets to be graded, and why are there so few in the higher populations? For example I was looking at the 2005-D dime and the ms66 fb is $55 and the ms67 fb is $140. Surly (not defiantly) a en-capsuled coin with a beautiful luster should grade at 67 right? Is it the cost of grading, or the fact that people just don't want to break open the set. Please give me some incite to this if you have the time. Have a great day, Bobby !
The '05-D were satin finish and get a different designation. Most mint set coins can be found Gem without a lot of effort but Gems in circulation can be exceedingly rare in some cases.
My question, simplified is: are there any difference between mint uncirculated coins and the P & D's that are circulated. In other words, does the 2014 p in the box come from the same exact strike as the 2014 p that goes into circulation?
