Early last year I had a box with 146 wheats in it - but here is the big kicker, 75 of them were 1943 steel cents and most of them were in AU-BU. The rest of the wheats were all high grade also - like someone dumped a collection of rolls. Wished I could have gotten the boxes that were made around that one. But on average I hope for 10 in a box.

Yea I keep all my copper pennies... right now I have 30 lbs of copper pennies (22 lbs from 1970-1982 and 8 lbs 1959-1969) it really doesn't take much space.. I just keep it in my closet in some jars. One day when im good at seeing double dies and whatever other errors ill go through them, or sell it for copper value either way

Very fun lot so far. A deli Ive never been to has a 5 gallon bucket full of cents, plus he says he has buckets of nickels. I was on my way to the park when I stopped in so I didnt have my handcart with me, so I only took $80 worth of cents. There is probably $120 in cents still there, which Ill pick up friday.

    $80 lot
57 wheats - 1919,1929,1934,1939D VF (my second found in circulation), 1949s (VF/XF) the rest 40-58
    8 S Mint Memorials, including a bright, clean 70-s
    9 - 2009 cents
    2 British Cents (modern)
21 Canadians Cents- 1964 is the oldest
over $5 in nickels and dimes, plus 1 - 2000 dollar
Almost half of the lot are years I search
AND !!!!! My first PROOF cent, 1986s. Very, very little wear and beautiful toning !!!

THEN, after sorting, I dug into the first coffee can and within 3 handfuls, I pulled out a nicely toned 2000 WAM. Not a bad start at all !

Just dropped off my halves from Saturday at one of my dump branches. $18 in and the bag was full. While they were changing it out I asked if it was possible to buy the bag off them. This apparently was as bad as asking for their first born child to use in a Satanic ritual. I ignored most of what the supervisor was saying once she said "We want to discourage YOU people from scrounging through change and dumping it on us." The "you" is bold because she was sure to emphasize that word.

I politely said ok and thanked them for their time and then dumped the rest of my coin.

I bet you can guess who is going to get 99% of my dumps from now on :)

I picked up a box of dimes and a box of cents. The box of dimes gave me 2 Roosies (62 & 64D) and a 2006 UK 5p.

You may be laughing about it now but wait until the bank has the counting machine removed altogether. Citing costs, that's what one of my banks did. First, they started charging a fee to non-customers and then a couple of years later I walked in one day and noticed this void where the counting machine once stood. I rarely used the machine so it was no big deal to me but the tellers told me how a father and his kids would buy their full bags and search them. They likely dumped off their rejects back to the same bank and machine after going through them as well.

This was the only bank in the area that I am aware of which had a counting machine. I'm not trying to discourage you from using the machine but just know that doing it too much may contribute to you walking in one day and no longer having a machine to use at all.

And that would be the day I close my account with them. I make sure to spread my dumps out across 5-6 different banks so as to not overwhelm any one branch.

i deposit my dumps, then go back the next day and withdraw the cash. this way they know i have an account and actually use it, so the tellers arent as ticked off when i bring in bags of coins

Yeah the CU that I dump on I only have $20 in an account there. I have moved close to $40k through all of their branches this year so far. My main Saturday morning bank is getting donuts this weekend as a thank you.

Wow that person was extremely rude. You asked a question, and she was (lack of a better word) rude. See I would report her to the banks customer service or something. Actually to spite her I would go there with 1000 dollars in zinc pennies and ask her to help me roll them, because you know you don't want to fill the bag ;).

Yeah, she was really rude. My wife said I should call the bank's corporate office. This branch is notoriously rude. I am more of a hands-off kind of person and would rather not draw attention to myself or what I'm doing. After this last interaction I am seriously considering calling.

The front desk lady actually mouthed the words "I'm sorry" to me as I was at the teller getting my cash.

At my credit union today, I cashed in my change jar in the coin counting machine for a total of $64.56. At the teller window, the teller asked if she could put the .56 cents in my account. She said they no longer give out change except for business accounts.

That's a bummer. I have received some good stuff from the change I got from dumping my coins.
