Hello. I am not sure that I am reading well on the obverse of this Roman coin. It could also be Constans or even Constantine. The coin weighs 2.32 g. and the reverse seems puzzling to me. I appreciate any comment. Thanks.. Charles
The obverse legend reads FL IVL CONSTANTIVS NOB C and the reverse legend should read GLOR-IA EXERC-ITVS with two soldiers standing either side of two standards. I cannot make out the mintmark in exergue. I believe this to be a Constantius II, but to give you an exact attribution, I need the mintmark. Can you make out any of the letters? I think I see TR?, but I am unsure of even that.
Thanks BG. At least I now guess it is Constantius 2. As for the MM, it could be Antioch but I am not sure because the coin is tiny. Charles
If it is Antioch it can only be RIC VII Antioch 87 or 88; however if it is Trier it could be RIC VII Trier 540 or 546.
Hi. If the MM is formed of 5 letters, then the third and fourth letters are A and N . Would that mean definitely Antioch? I am 90% sure about these two letters. Charles
