Hey everyone. I just bought this CAC'd coin, but the kicker is that it's the O-108 E over A variety, though not identified on the holder. (I know the pics are poor, but I can still tell). Anyway, is there a way to get this thing in the correct holder at PCGS and not lose the CAC sticker forever? Thanks.
Why doesn't some reputable, knowledgeable coin dealer come up with a sticker that attributes coins? That would seem to be a lot easier then cracking it out of a slab, regrading it, sending it to CAC.
My understanding is the answer is no...as they change the whole holder. However, I would contact CAC and let them know what's going on and see if there is a way to get a coin re-stickered.
Re-stickering the coin is only like $3 bucks with CAC. Give them the old cert and new cert, take pics, send them a nice email before you send in the coin to give them a heads up. Of course, this assumes you can submit to CAC directly. But the same thing could be done through a dealer. Sent from my HTC6990LVW using Tapatalk edit: the shipping and insurance is what will hurt, but send it in with 9+ other coins to make the submission to CAC affordable.
Might not be worth the time and effort. The E/A error in the word STATES can be easily seen with good pics. Still, it affects the PCGS population report, and gives collectors peace of mind knowing they are buying the right thing...I just don't know.
I agree with this advice. My guess is that they will sticker again but perhaps you have to follow some protocol.
This is what I meant. But, before doing it I would contact them and find out exactly what they need to ensure it doesn't get messed up in anyway. It sounds like you are looking to sell this coin. Here is my though. Figure out how much it will cost you to get the coin sent in, attributed, reholdered and then re-stickered (if possible) including all shipping and insurance costs. Then, factor in how much time it will take. If you doing all that work will increase your profit enough to justify it...and you don't mind having the capital tied up in the coin for that time, then do it. If it won't make you money, then just take good photos and properly describe it (good photos are a must either way IMHO). If you are going to keep the coin, you know what it is. So, I don't see a huge reason to send it in...unless you just really like having your coins perfectly labeled.
I agree with Camaro , keep it as is and put the Overton # in the title of the description . Why spend all the time and money as it will only add to the price and make it harder to sell .
In order for CAC to resticker the slab, both sides of the coin in the slab need to be photographed and sent in. You can send the printed photos with your coin to CAC or send the coin and email the photos. It would help to make a phone call when you do this to put your mind at ease.
