http://cgi.ebay.com/1909-S-VDB-the-...8QQihZ008QQcategoryZ39456QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Not stunning in a good way. Not even sure if it is a 1909-s vdb. This coin is one hurt puppy.
Wow. That's pretty ugly. It would be pretty easy to take a regular 09' VDB, add the mintmark, then pour acid on it to make it look real, just damaged....I also don't like how it's only the obverse that has the damage...looks fishy to me.
It looks like the creature from the Alien movies spit on it. Good only for a conversation piece, but then you could make your own for 1 cent.
$157.55 !!!!!!!!!! There are a few nice coins that I would have bought with that money. What a waste.
Heh, I was looking for a 1909 VDB for my Dansco and ran across that one. Before clicking on the link in the first post, I knew it was the same one. Yeah, beyond ugly and honestly I see very little point in anyone owning that thing. Somewhat along the lines of some other coins I've run across like a 1793 Large cent that was 99.9% worn on both sides. There was 0.1% enough detail so you could identify it, now it is more or less, an expensive copper slug.
I agree with every one that poor thing is super ugly. Had to look a minute to make sure it was a coin. Looks like a penny with a bad case of mange. Talking about insuring it, that should have been done a long time ago.
That is ugly. I'm not sure myself if that is a coin. Highest I would go would be $5 if that. They are out of there minds to bid that much. That coin is going to be in my nightmares tonight lol. What would cause that to happen to it? Acid is the obvious answer, but how would acid get on the coin without human help? That is ugly. Phoenix
Is someone archiving all of these amusing ebay listings somewhere? They should be saved for posterity.
