Why not the large photo option? Why do I (we) have to be subjected to small puny pics? Peter allows us to load large files so why not take advantage?

Rant riffted, Lookin' good.....small as it seems. :)

Does 20 years in a trunk help make the grade higher? I dont think coins get better being stored for a period of time. Wine. Yes?

The fact that it was not in the hands of dealers/collectors for the last 20 years who most likely would of already cracked it out is the point i'm making..thanks for your imput.

This coin probably would come back the same grade. Too much chatter under STATES on the reverse in my opinion would keep this from making a higher grade. As mentioned by Mainebill you would have a better chance of increasing its desirability by getting a green bean on it. There are quite a few collectors who like the old green holders with CAC stickers and will pay a little extra for them.

From the photos provided I feel that the coin is accurately graded at MS-65.

With the various nicks on her cheek and the chatter above the eye, I'm not seeing this having much of a shot at MS-66.

Can you post a picture with the left side of the coin better represented? It seems to be in shadow. There appears to be some "noise" on the forehead and light contact marks in the left field. I can't really tell from the photo though.

It's a very nice MS65 from what I can tell.

    Welcome to the forums.

It's a really nice coin, I think going the CAC route is a good idea, as a couple of others have suggested.

As Ed suggested, the scuff marks on the reverse were probably enough to knock it down a half-point or so. Grading is such that the obverse carries most of the weight, and while the reverse may lower the grade, it isn't often that it will increase the grade.

By the way, welcome to the neighborhood!

Uhhhhhh - when I put my cursor on the pics and click, the images more than fill the screen.

But when I do that the pics are blurry and out of focus, so it doesn't help. But the large pics are sure there.

He must have edited it. Last nite the pics wouldn't expand. Either that or it was the bourbon........:)

That coin is a high 65--looks 65+ to me and would get a green bean IMHO. Borderline as to a 66 (same comments about the reverse as my colleagues), but who cares? Beautiful coin in any case. Average strike for Nawlins. I would NOT crack it out, as it is iffy on an upgrade. If you can get someone to submit it for you, go for a beanie if you want. Hey, James stole half of my name...lolol.

I think this point her merit...because many OGH coins that have been on the market have been picked through by now and most that will upgrade already have been. So, if this coin truly has been off the market for 20 years...it would not fall into that catagory.
But, in your original post you say "Picked up a few OGH MS65 Morgans recently." If these coins haven't been in your possession for that time period (because they were recently picked up)...are you certain they have been stored for 20 years?

That said, looking at the photos...it is a lovely coin. However, there is some chatter on the cheek and it makes me wonder if this coin would grade higher than MS65. I'm honestly not sold that it would and I would just keep it where it is.

    But, like I said...it's a beautiful coin!

Thanks for all opinions. I believe this previous owner (not a collector) . Here in Canada we have a sorta craighs list called kijiji...google it and then put in under ontario location...MS65 Morgan silver dollar and you can see the whole lot of Morgans I had to choose from, including the coin I posted..have fun ....James ( here is one of the other 4 I purchased..other two at office) opinions on this coin would also be appreciated..
