Hope all you want, but the ability to do it is now in their design and production tool boxes and the expense they went to, to prepare their staff and facilities for minting domed coins something director level management will be wanting to exploit of more return on investment.
Never Say Never... The Perth Mint released a domed coin after the French and have also released Australia-shaped coins since then too.
Really?... Have you drunk too much tonight? Tasteful is subjective to say the least but they have already killed (your beloved) classic commemorative coin program at least once with gimmicks and misinformation about minting. They are running hard against that line to kill the current cash cow commemorative program with too many products being released, too many varieties of each offering and ever rising costs. The aftermark tanks as soon as they deliver the bulk of the coins and the stunts they are starting to pull now releasing a few hundred to dealers and insiders at coin shows to rape the profits of release day will kill the same interest the greater collector interest has had in such special coins. I call most of what the US Mint does "ridiculousness".
Here I go teaching you again... They've got a whole series of them, with color and pictures on them too boot! Australian shaped coins. Are you really?
My beloved 'classic' program was killed by greed. Cincinnati Music House is an example. Pure greed intended for the issue. I don't see that in contemporary issues of commems. And I raise a slight measure of Evan Williams to you my friend.
And it's been Easter ever since for Ken (green18)... BTW, he does have a nice collection of classic commems.
It's hard to see the forest for the trees when there's so much of it around you. If you can't see it in the modern program, whose behind the legislation how it's played by the industry and dealers in line with the grading firms then you're not really tuned in, just blissfully consuming as they want you to. That is as I have said before, marketing controlling your spending habits. Sorry, but I've only got some coffee hear to meet your raised glass, but i t will do for now.
You and I never did see eye to eye on this subject. Todays commemorative program is way more honest than the old program. The fact that multiple issues for a given year are now limited is a standing fact. Collectors today deal with two issues per year. In the old days there could be multiples of 2. 1936 seems to stand out......
