(Hello Coin Guru's.. Way back in the 80's (early) I had the opportunity to go thru some early (1950-1964) proof sets. I was searching for some Cameo Proof's... I have cent's, nickels, and dimes with some pretty fine examples..all are still raw all are hand picked and all nickels are either blue or gold toned. Grading for me is not possible at the moment..but any idea if these are still being sought after? Please let me know and I can scan and post later if that will help. **EDIT** I fogot to mention that these are all from (1950 thru 1964) RickieB
As a general rule, proof coins from the 1980s are pretty much duds. The main exception to that are 1981 proofs with the type 2 S and the 1983 No S dime. That said, people love toned coins right now so if some have attractive toning they might have a little more value.
Agree with CamaroDMD. One exceotion to the general rule is a nice 1988-S Kennedy Doubled Die that some would be willing to put a paycheck on.
Whoops!! I forgot to say that these are all from 1950 thru 1964.... I guess that should make a little difference
Yes, that make a difference for sure. I would say all the sets from 1950-55 are quite desirable...the remaining years less so. 1950 and 1951 are by far the best years from that range.
Here is the 1950 and 1951 The scans are not so good... but the coins are still as they were when I sent them in years and yeas ago..
Great pieces you should get a large premium from those early dates especially if you bought them in the 1980s when prices were much cheaper i am looking forward to seeing the images of some of your early Franklins
