I am wondering if this particular type label (see photo below) has any premium. I know it's not the first generation old green labels, but do they have any value to them? I'm not talking about the grade or the coin itself, just the label.
Endeavor, people don't collect these coins for the sake of the labels. Strictly-speaking, the labels mean a more conservative grade on the coin, a grade based less on the prevailing marketing. Obviously, though, that's not always the case.
On the PCGS Generations thread, that is a type 4 holder, It has no extra premium. But still a very nice coin in a OGH (Old Green Holder)
The coin in the photo is not mine. I got it from Google image search. I was just using it as reference.
Yes, I have heard that the conservative grading is what made them more desirable. I was just curious if there is also any desire in the marketplace nowadays that could increase value due to the label itself. These labels are starting to get old and I'm guessing there are less of them around than more modern versions. Personally, I'm inclined to think that the coin should be all that matters. However, not everyone thinks like me so that's why I ask.
I could see people who don't know the first thing about how to grade the coin shelling out extra just for the quaint old label, for sure.
No, the label has no premium whatsoever. Some of the OGH coins sell for more than their counterparts, as the OGH coins were more conservatively graded.
The PCGS 4 slabs are getting scarcer, but there are still way to many of them around for the slab itself to carry a premium.
