1807 Draped Bust Half Cent (PCGS AU53). Hard to believe that this coin was circulating in Washington's and Jefferson's day. Two hundred and seven years will really darken copper! However this coin still has some great detail and a bit of mint luster/gloss. Am I seeing a bit of an overdate on the 7?

Sure looks like a slight 7/7 overdate to me.

1962 Proof Lincoln Cent (PCGS PR66BN). Just got the results back yesterday. Some of the best obverse color I've ever seen.

WOW. Those flawless obverse mirrors make it look like Lincoln is floating on a shimmering opal. You keep raising the bar on these colorful toned proofs!!

I like your description. Here is a close up view. When you combine great color, smooth transitions, glassy deep mirrors, and no spots -- you have a five-star look. It just doesn't get much better than this. There is also some nice elevation chromatics in Lincoln's hair, ear, and jacket. I even like the rim -- with the rainbow from 4 to 8 o'clock.

For all the lovely coins that you have illustrated on this website, I am surprised this is your first Kennedy half dollar. I hope you find this coin interesting enough that you will want to enhance the collection you so generously share with your fellow collectors here on Coin Talk.

Thank you for the kind words. Although common by say, it is very hard to get that coin here. There is a reasonable collectors base here in Chile, but no good US coins for sale. We have serious import issues. A nice coin store might just be a good business option if one can get the stock in. My collection borders on the 2000 coins with only one Morgan, a Peace dollar, a Franklin and a Kennedy half. I love these, but can only buy when travelling. At least they are >MS65. The history of the Kennedy's and what happened after his death have great relevance to the history of my home country. So, I always had some admirance for the man. Once I am settled in up North, I am planning to join a club and strongly enhance my US and Canadian collection.

I just picked up my very first Trade Dollar, which is also my first coin in a new generation PCGS holder. It is nice to have this holder for a coin which is so frequently counterfeited, as it give me confidence that I have stayed a step ahead of the Chinese menace...

The coin has definitely been dipped but fortunately this was done right here in the good old USA. Apparently the cleaning wasn't severe enough to earn a details grade although this could be debatable. I'm just glad that to have a coin that wasn't made in somebody's basement in Beijing.

Got a big box of graded coins, mostly Morgans, in the mail today. A little disappointed with some of the grades, but that's life. 1935 Peace will go great with my other PDs. The 1893 came back cleaned, which I had suspected, but it's staying in the collection until I can get a better one. The 1904 I am very happy with and it has a little toning on the bottom of the hair. Love the 1884-CC toned and the 1884 toned and the 1900-S came back with a 63+.

I bought the 2009 mint sets today because of the satin finish bronze bicentennial cents.
