Can you guys let me in on the secret?

I keep reading threads where people are getting Ebay coupons, multiple ebay buck programs, and special offers. I have never received any of theses. I checked the box to receive special offers. This makes me sad. Anyone else never get any offers?

Yesterday I got a message that if I bid for 5 auction type listings I will get 5 dollar ebay bucks. I put like 20 low bids for silver eagles see if I get the ebucks .

 

Sure rub it in. I really dont want to hear stories of your great deals. I want answers.

Seriously, no secret on this end. I noticed a 10% off coupon by happenstance when I was looking at a listing -- it said something about "get this for as little as [next bid amount - 10%] with your coupon". No notification, no nothing.

I asked about it here, and eventually someone told me to turn on email notifications. I still haven't gotten any buying promotions (it's been a month or so), but in the last week or two I've gotten two selling promotions ($50 coupon for selling an item at $50 or more, $10 coupon for selling any item by May 6).

The secret may just be patience.

Don't worry -- you're usually not missing out on much. 95% of the time all I get are periodic emails of "Special offer for you, _____" -- which inevitably is the useless "Bill-Me-Later Option and Get $10 in eBay Bucks." And everyone wonders how so many people are suckered into "easy" credit...

Anyways, on topic...supposedly eBay targets certain groups of people when they send out these offers. Perhaps these "Bid on 5 get $5" were sent to those who've only really bought using BINs on eBay, as an incentive to have them participate in more auctions. It's certainly true for me; I rarely participate in actual eBay auctions anymore.

 

It was always checked.

 

Me too. I go crazy looking at so much junk being auctioned, that I give up. they need better search options. Like, dont show me any listings that say unsearched, shotgun roll, etc.

Did you ever sign up for the ebay bucks program specifically? I don't think you can get the "$5 ebay bucks by listing X amount of items" email if you aren't enrolled in the program.

You have to follow all their rules, Bkozak33. That means follow top seller standards, hassle free returns, blah blah blah. Get in line and bow to the almighty eBay.

 

Yeah, but it's the easiest way to get coins that you wouldn't normally be able to get.

 

These are buyer coupons. People are getting them that dont even sell. do you get them?

 

I do get them. But I used to get more of them when I used them. Eventually I stopped using the "GET 4x EBAY BUCKS TODAY ONLY" because I was already at the max $500 quarterly limit, and it wouldn't have mattered for me to use that. I ignored like 3 of those in a row and then got them much less frequently.

 

I called them, they reviewed my account said Im a good customer, and they will look into why Im not receiving anything. She said she cant promise anything, as they are randomly generated. I told her I have been an Ebay customer for 10 years, and have never received anything. Im either very unlucky or their random coupon giveaway is lie.

 

Never received one either and I have been there for 13 years. However, I checked their special offers thingy a couple month ago and got so much garbage I had to uncheck it in about a week.

 

Use search modifiers. "-" in front of any word eliminates that from the search results, and you can add multiple words in parentheses. So if I was searching for Indian Head cents, I might search "indian head -(unsearched, estate, shotgun)"
