Is this a Cob ?

    Greetings. The weight of this Spanish silver coin is merely 4.96 g . The shape is a little bit convex, and there is a lot of wear. Could it be a cob? I appreciate any comment. Thanks..

    I think that it's just a 2 real (6.7 g) that had been worn/eaten away down to its present weight. Most cobs are nowhere near round .. just pieces of silver or copper. Yours is 18th century (1720's) so too late for a Spanish cob

    I agree it is not a cob, cobs were only minted in the colonial mints and that one was minted in Spain, hard to say for sure but I think Segovia . The odd shape and light weight is more likely attributed to clipping which was still prevalent at the time.

    And cobs were still being minted until the late 1770's at some of the colonial mints. So the date is far from being too late.
