I am about to make a deal to purchase a 1964 mint set. He took a photo of the kennedy and it appears to me to be an accented hair. Do you agree or disagree and why?
Go here: http://www.ipotad.com/pages/ah2.html It looks like the 'I' is right anyway but a closer picture would help.
Yes, you can see the original craigslist posting here in the first picture it states on the paper us proof set.
It is still a mint set and we all know that Accented Hair kennedy half dollars were only from proofs.
No it is a proof set. I am looking at one. See here.. http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_trk...of+set&_nkw=1964+proof+set&_sacat=0&_from=R40
It is an Accented Hair. Buy the set and ignore the blather from those hung up grammatical symantics. If you end up not liking it, PM me and I'll buy it from you at your cost plus mailing charges to me. Fortgot to add why I believe it is. 1. Its definitely a proof coin. 2. The serif is missing on the I in LIBERTY 3. There's just too much activity in the hair area above the ear for it NOT to be even though its unclear in the photo.
You're correct in saying that this is the accented hair proof variety. Some of the people that commented on this post, as well as myself were a little confused at first. The mint produced mint sets and proof sets. They're different than each other. This coin is in fact in a proof set and not a mint set.
Wow, the bid is currently $132.50. I cherrypicked mine for $15. Maybe it is time to for me to sell. TC
The linked eBay set is not the subject coin of this thread and for the life of me, I have no idea why the eBay set is at the $132 mark since there is absolutely nothing special about the Kennedy within that set other than "possibly" a PR66 AH Coin (after $55 in grading expenses that is).
