Wouldn't gold have to make a sizable jump?

Oh they will since it's the ONLY alternative to actually sculpting something that would mememorable.

You see, this entire program was never given consideration nor planned and represents a mere bone being tossed to the collecting community in an attempt to cover their butts!
Something such as this should have been better thought out instead of "Lts just throw a date on the Original artwork and call it a day!"

Needless to say, the program is a half hearted expression and the design quality of the gold coin, as depicted so far, is as bland as a Presidential Dollar.

  6. I am thinking these may be specially priced.

Edited to add: The MNB article states that these will likely weight slightly more than 3/4 ounce.

.75 oz gold coin would have to sell for $1200-$1300 (based on the current price of gold), thus even though this is a very popular design and many people would like to own it, the pricing of the coin may limit it to a 20,000 mintage or less.

A three coin set would be very desireable, and probably very expensive thus a low mintage.
I wish the Gold version of the kennedy coin was "only" .25 oz, like the HOF $5 coin, then the mintage could be higher and more people could own one.

Yeah, the mint could care less about the many that collect Kennedy Halves. This will make the set impossible to complete for most. On the other hand, it may bring some “big money” to the Kennedy series and raise the price of all if that money chases the other coins. Then we can dump ours on them.

Hey Joe, I don't blame you, I blame the Mint. I enjoy your reports and look forward to your Kennedy experience. I wonder what the special label will be.

I'm behind on this thread but I vote to join you in line! Preferably ahead if possible. Haha Our company had a booth at the central states show this week so I have to try and go on company time to Chicago and kill it.

I hear the free bags were such a huge success that they'll be giving away insulated versions for cold groceries with the Kennedy golds.

Anyone have any kind of stats on the number of active Kennedy collectors out there?

One thing that strikes me personally is that these coins may be allowable in an IRA or better yet, a Roth IRA. Collectibles aren't allowed but 24k certainly meets the purity requirement of .995. If these coins could technically be used to honor a futures contract, they could arguably be permissible. A quick flip on tax-free money in a Roth would be very nice.

Is there any solid evidence that this is finally going to be happening? Where did the 3/4 oz dimension come from?

Guesses as to content are based on a 24k coin with a diameter of 30.6 mm, the size of a Kennedy half dollar.

Maybe one or two dozen. Bald headed Franklins are more popular.

None of those modern halfs for me.

I will take a gold Walking Liberty though. C'mon 2016, Mint to issue gold WL???

Well, if it were still being used then "possibly" but not likely since these wasn't a "gold" Lincoln Produced.

Q: Now many "active" Kennedy Collectors are there out there?
A: Far fewer than there are coin dealers.

The Limited Edition Silver Proof Set is scheduled to be released latter this year. Do you suppose that the Kennedy half included in this set will be one of the Anniversary stikes?
