I searched $1000 in Halves today. I found the following: My first Walking Liberty 1941-S My first 1974-D Double Die Obv. My first 1966 Double Die Obv. I also found: 1-1972-D Uncirculated 1-2006-P Uncirculated Along with the follwing silver Kennedies: 1-1964 2-1965 5-1966 (1 is the double die) 14-1967 10-1968-D 8-1969-D
Yeah....I was happy to say the least. It's amazing to see the difference between the two types of half bags I can get at Bank of America though. They either come in a clear plastic bag or a burlap sack. I think I've gotten halves twice in the burlap and never found silver in those, while in the clear bags I've done VERY well.....
Look what I just found in my halves I already had! this is a 1966 kennedy. I think it's probably strike doubling...I only see the doubling on "Half Dollar" and the mint mark.
Paul; The D is a repunched mintmark, nice one. The doubling look like strike doubling (or mechanical doubling) we'd need clearer pictures. :thumb:
Frank, the D is on the same coin as the doubling....to you think it is just strike doubling too? And yes, skm, I do want more....but first I have to roll all of these and return them to another bank -_-
N: You have to remember that in those days, the Mintmark was added later. So, the old rule was that on a double die, if the mintmark was doubled, then it was generally a fake or strike doubling. There are many repunched mintmarks that are not double dies, and visa versa. Which, I think is your case, but the doubling is deceptive, it does appear to be flat & 'shelf like' typical of strike/mechanical doubling.
Good job. I didn't think they released the 2006 for circulation. Someone must have cracked open a mint roll or bag?
