How many of you have ever seen a French 40 Francs? I was shown 2 of them - an AN 12A (1805) one of Emperor Napoleon I (Napoleon Bonaparte) & an 1830A one of King Charles X. Aidan.
Hello again Aidan, I didn't have any, so I quickly shot one at lunchtime, it's far from perfect but take it as is, please. So it's a Louis Philippe 40 francs, minted in 1833 at Paris mint (A) Enjoy Cucumbor
Adian, You have just made my day ... I get to show off my newest gold purchase from the Heritage 2007 January New York Signature World Coin Auction #425 Napoleon Bonaparte gold 40 Francs, 1812-A. These photos are from Heritage . in hand the coin is a more normal golden honey color. I received the coin today and will re-photo it this weekend. It is a real nice looking coin and in a very uncommon quality to boot.
Silvereagle...what a nice coin that is!! I remember the timeframe when Doug lured you over to the darkside:eating: .......since that time you have posted some very nice coin images! Way to go on the purchases. Hope you have not forgotten us light siders in the transformation process!! LOL encil: RickieB
Some people seem to think so, otherwise they wouldn't keep these third party slabbers in business. if you mean `outside of the USA, does graded french francs carry a premium...(etc)' i'd have to say a resounding `No. Not at all.'
I agree,it's beautiful.I only have the 20 franc (1811) and definitely NOT MS-62,more like XF or less. :thumb:
