Bulk Gradeing

    So there I was. I was cataloging coins one day with new software. I bulked up on Jefferson nickels and was logging them into this program. I was just punching is some random grades just for fun to see what values this software would come up with. All of a sudden I got some unrealistic price spikes. I contacted the manufacturer, and they said that by default rolls are graded @ MS60. Well my question would be. Does anybody or every body agree with this? Now from time to time I have opened rolls and would say that none of them graded as high as MS60. But for the most part I think that MS60 is a low default grade for mint rolled unciculated Coins.

    I agree with you. I would call that an overly conservative estimate. I think mint-rolled unc coin rolls would average higher than MS-60.

    Mint rolled, bank rolled, whatever - as long as they are truly newly minted coins they will average 64,65. In most cases anyway, there are dates that have been exceptions and been lower.
