Weird punch in a penny

    Good to have you here on CT Aussie. Your coin looks like it was struck with the blunt end of some type of tool. Someone who had too much time on their hands. Are there any markings on the reverse of the coin?

    counterstamped, looks like someone lost their #4 punch....only the person who did it would know where an why...

    Thanks for your reply Bruce, the coin seems normal on the reverse, just a little squished where the 4 was punched... penny2.jpg

    Looks like someone punched it on there with a small flat blade screwdriver. Why ? Can't guess. But years ago, every high school in the USA had shop classes. A lot of playing was done with pennies. Chrome plating, acid bathing, etc. Acid bathing could reduce the size of one to fit the dime slot in vending machines and parking meters. I regret today the silver quarters I ground down and glued together to make a two headed one. LOL
