I bought a coin from a seller, that was harshly cleaned. The picture did not make this evident. I emailed the seller, and he said return it for a refund. I overnighted to him on the 16th. As of the 31st, I had yet to receive a refund so I sent him the following email:

    Hi xxxxx,
I mailed the coin back over 2 weeks ago, and have yet to receive a refund. I was simply wondering if you could please update me on the status of my refund.

    Thank you,
    Zane

This is the response I received:
Zane CALIFORNIA is a long way off from pennsylvannia... and your refund check is in the CALIFORNIA mail system along with over 200,000,000 other CALIFORNIA Envelopes.. Refund will arrive soon..

I truly can't tell if this is a rude response or not. I can say that I won't be doing business with the seller anymore.

Nope, I've e-mailed similar letters, same subject, worded virtually the same way. Perhaps the seller has been Overcome By Events (OBE) and fallen behind in his eBay duties.

No you wern't rude at all.

The seller's email seemed a bit rude to me. And 2 weeks is a bit over due IMO after recieving the coin back by next day mail.

I am inclined to agree. By the looks of it, you're not having the best of luck with ebay Zaneman. But then, who is? lol. Hope everything works out.

    Zane,

I agree with you and the others - the sellers response was a little rude. That having been said it sounds like the check may be on its way. Sound like you handled it the way you should have and I nothing wrong with what you wrote.

    Good Luck.

Well, I won contest #63 and have yet to receive the prize... never will. The person who was to send the prize has never made another comment here, unless he has changed his user name. My inversment - zero... nothing lost. I hope you dont have much invested.
Just hope for the best. Keep us posted.

Yes, in my opinion it was a rude response. Who cares, as long as you get your refund. ;)

Your email was professional and polite.

The seller's response was what my old boss used to refer as, as 'flip'. Not so much rude, as sassy and smart ass.

Anyway, their response was also bs as the mail is the mail is the mail.

    peace,

    rono

If you used Pay Pal file a disagreement before it is too late. Do the same with ebay. If he already left you feedback I'd nuke'm. The pony express died off a long time a go. Shouldn't have taken more than 5 business days. Lately sellers forget who they are supposed to please. Regards, 1991retiredarmyvet

I wouldn't say they were being rude outright, but possibly just were having a bad day and you got a dose of it

    Zane,

I feel like it was a rude response. Your email was respectful and professional, and considering how quickly you sent the coin back, the seller should have at least kept in contact with you about the status of the refund.

Yea, sounds a bit sarcastic to me also. California might be 3000 miles away from PA but it doesnt take that long for the mail to reach coast to coast. I mean, I could drive a car there in less time. Your email was very appropriate Zaneman. If sellers like that consider their customers to be a burden maybe they should find a new hobby.

De Orc is right, how dare you complain that you want your money, after all, there are 200,000,000 others who want their money back from that seller!
I'd ask him if he personally mailed all those refunds!
(Just kidding, yes I know what he meant, but it could get a rise out of him.)
Zane; You were polite, and nicer than I would have been.

Ebay sellers each have their own quirks. Yeah he was rude, but different ebay sellers are a-hs for different reasons. Im irritated by ebay sellers that wont take paypal. Paypal is easier than sending a check. It boggles the mind, these ebay sellers that list an item with a starting price with no reserve, and people bid up the item 2 or 3 times the starting price, and by the time the auction ends the seller is getting a nice price that gives him like a 500% profit but I have to wait longer to complete the transaction, because he wont pay the paypal fee.

Zane, I have to agree with the majority here. You did the right thing and the email you sent was indeed professional and to the point. His response was uncalled for. I sure wish we could have a list of ebayers like this for the group here to stay away from, however the legal bills would kill us. : )

I recently received my first neg in ebay after 9+ years. Over a 99 cent baseball card. Talk about being peeved. But its out of the way now.. Hopefully when people look at my feedback they see the truth. I did get 4 neutrals a while back to now that I think about it. I sent back 4 Franklins from a "PowerSeller" that listed as Choice BU. When I got them, VF-XF at best, but they were shiney! He sells a ton of them out there too. I got my money back, minus of course shipping two ways which he made money on. No more BU Franklins on ebay for me.

Good job on the email Zane. I do think however you were a little to patient in waiting as long as you did. You should of had the money back within 5 days no ifs ands or buts...
