    Hello,

The 2 cent coin was designed by James B. Longacre (one of my favorite engravers).

It was minted from 1864 until 1873.

All pieces were struck at the Philadelphia mint.

Thanks for a YN contest! It's the first that I am aware of since I started on this forum.

    Steve thanks for the giveaway.

Off the top of my head, I believe Longacre designed them.
Secondly, I know they first were produced in 1864 with those two varieties, Large and Small Motto. They then were produced everyyear thereafter till 1873, with the mintages getting less and less every year. (one of thsoe anomolies I find interesting about this odd denomination piece. Also, 1873 was strictly struck as a proof.
Finally, all coins were produced at the Philadelphia Mint. It would be interesting to see a MM on a Two-Cent Piece. IMO

    Thanks again
