Well here is the start of my collection anyone know what the average price for the silver versions are? I also intend to collect them in CuproNickle as well :thumb: De Orc
Well prices will vary with dealer. Use your browser too search web. just type in state quarters silver sets and you should get large group of dealers too choose from. You are starting a little late and the 1999 are selling for a premium price. Most of the other years can still be picked up for reasonable price. http://lynncoins.com/proof-silver-quarters.htm here is a link if ya wanna go take a look around and get some ideas on prices. Good luck with your collection.
Ah but 8 years ago I did not know about them LOL we dont have them in the UK and my main collection is Ancients this is a bit of a side line for me. De Orc
You might want to watch out real close and make sure that you are paying for just the state silver quarters. sometimes when you buy these they will have it listed for quarters only. Others you can get the entire silver proof set for not much more than you would pay for the quarters only. An entire proof set can be obtained for about what litttleton is selling the state quarters only silver proofs.
Thanks for the advice appreciated :thumb: with the silver I am going for the US Mint sets only De Orc
Well have just purchased my second set (2005) for $24.99 + $10 shipping to the UK, quite pleased with that price and will post pics when it arrives De Orc
If you check the picture at the start of this thread you will see it is a proof set issued by the US Mint De Orc
I think that's where the confusion comes in for some. We have Proof sets which are the special proof finish coins and we have Uncirculated Mint sets as well which a specially prepared uncirculated strikes. They don't have the mirror finish fields and they don't come in silver... both are distributed by the Mint so someone unfamiliar with the difference could easily call either a Mint set meaning simply that it was packaged by the Mint and not a collection put together by a third party.... that or I've just wasted a few minutes of my life typing this up.
LOL dont worry I understood what you meant (Not sure if that is a good sign dd: ) but I was refering to the US Mint as a entity and a producer of sets and that I would not be buying the coins loose or in sets made by any 3rd party De Orc :high5:
Well things are going well LOL latest additions are 2005-P&D "SATIN FINISH" (MINT SEALED) 2006-P&D "SATIN FINISH" (MINT SEALED) 2004 Silver Proof Set (MINT SEALED) All 40 'p' in BU De Orc
Just bought the latest Silver set 2007 direct from the Mint so hope to have that here in around 2 weeks De Orc
Well, I have just sold on E-bay a complete silver proof set collection from 1999 thru 2006 and the bid price was $644.00 , also a complete clad proof set collection from 1999 thru 2006 for $242.50. This sale just ended on Saturday, the 3rd of February. I have noticed in the last few months the price of a complete run of sets, whether clad or silver, has "flattened" out somewhat. The more modern silver sets, that is, the 2004 or 2005 or 2006 sets, at least on e-bay, are going for "rock bottom" prices at this point and I refuse to sell. The mint prices keep going up and it's almost impossible to re-coup your expenses at this point. The older sets, 1999 in particular, I think have "peaked" at the present time. The sleeper set is the 2002 silver. A lot of speculation surrounds the end of the state quarters program and only time will tell. If you look at all the mintage figures, none of the prices justify the present costs. Stay within your budget and if possible look for the best quality you can find for your dollar. All of this is just my humble opinion.
Thanks LG this is what I am trying to do, I am not just jumping in and buying the 1st one I see but am looking around I am limited somewhat as a number of sellers wont ship overseas :-( De Orc :thumb:
