First, it appears to be machine doubling rather than a true doubled die. Notice how it has a flat, shelf-like appearance. I've owned several Kennedy's with true doubling on the silhouette, and it is rounded just like the die itself. Furthermore, if it were true doubling, it would not be worth that much because the condition is not good enough to warrant a $500 price tag. Chris
The doubling you see on the profile in your new photos is MDD (Machine Damage Doubling)! Maybe we should wait for the experts to chime in? Larry Nienaber
If it was the DDO-001 and graded MS66 by a major grading company then it might be worth close to 500.
Here is an example of Machine Damage Doubling, notice the profile of Kennedy's face. PS: It might be easier to view from this link. http://www.pcgs.com/trueview/large/03948065.jpg
Oddly enough, the Profile on the 1974-D Kennedy Half has little to no doubling at all unlike the 1966 coins which have massive doubling on the profile. What would be cool would be to have the 1966 Profile Doubling on the 1974-D Lettering!
Hi, As i can see, it's MD like 1966 exemple. DD : letters look interlace... not on mine. Thank you! CDNum.
