It's been awhile since I've scanned a coin but from what I can remember I'd just place the coin between the cover and the glass, set the dpi to 600, crop the image after the preview and scan............

Scanning doesn't really give you the best image of a coin because of how the light falls on the coin. Photography is much better.

That said, if you want to scan it...do it at a higher dpi (like 600) because that results in a higher resolution image. You can change the dpi setting in your scanning software.

What do you mean...to ask him to help or if you can change settings? The settings are easy to change...but make sure you have his permission before you alter any software that's not yours...lol.

Are you trying to upload directly off your computer or from an image hosting site such as Photobucket? Many forum members host images on other websites and just need to enter the image URL to post pics in the forum. It's a good idea to go this route for managing image files yourself as you can delete images long after threads can no longer be edited.

On the flip side, later deleting images central to the subject can ruin a thread for anyone wishing to read it down the road.
