I can't seem to let go of a lot of cents I find. If they look cool, I keep them. My main focus at the moment is a XF-BN 30-58 (almost complete with only a few fillers ) and my AU-BN 09-58, with a lot of fillers. Any 40-58 wheat cents, that has little to no distraction marks, that has a nice tone to it, I keep, no matter the grade. I literally hope to have cent collections in very grade one day. Any 1939 and older is a keeper as well, even if it is barely recognized as a coin. I'll probably end up with 50 coin folders/albums at the rate lol. So, not including my coin hoardering, there are my collections at the moment: 59 to present red, circulated collection MS-RD AU-BN XF-BN Toned Weathered (like toned but the patina is more effected by circulation and the coin has character) DDO/DDR RPMs Die Clash Struck Through Die Chips Die Crack Every ugly 1983p cent I find. Every clean 1983p cent I find. A lot harder than finding ugly ones. Off Centers. If it's a noticeable off center by eye, I keep it. Misalignment Dies. Lamination Errors Those yellow/brown woodie cents that look cleaned Memorial S mints All 2009's All bright, clean zinc cents 82-99 (don't ask me why, I don't know) Is this nornal or I'm I insane??
Somewhere in-between. I have an entire box of XF-MS wheaties. Mostly AU-MS from what I can tell. i need to go through them.
I am trying to get MS RD as much as I can. It will take a while, but is sure looks nice where the RD is. The only hole I have is the elusive 09 S VDB. I was working so much on my Lincolns to the point of ignoring his brothers George, Thomas and Frank. So had to pay them some attention.
I have 26 US cent books (mostly Whitman) from 1857-Current. I also have three Canadian cent books. In addition to the books, I have a bunch of US large and small cents, English large and smal cents, and Canadian large and small cents in three ringed binders, coin boxes, or in wicker baskets. Although I'm typically a quantity over quality collector, I do have some cents in quite good condition.
In total five. All I collect is copper. The sets listed are date sets, I don't pursue variety collecting. Canadian Large cents Canadian Small cents US Large Cents US IHC Cents US Lincoln Cent I also collect CWT store cards, which had a nominal value in commerce of one cent so maybe I should list those as well
so lets see.... US Colonial copper (only a few here so far) US large cents x2 (best set and the $20 LC set) US IHC US Wheats US Lincolns x2 circulated and MS Canadian Large cents and of course can't forget a whole collection of errors from just about every category above
I'm working on one set with MS 65 or better with a nice variety of red, red-brown, and brown. Although, I am finding in the early thirties I may have to shift down my grade requirement as they are becoming a little on the pricey side.
I also forgot to add my Canadian small cent collection. All I'm missing at this point is 1920-1931,34,35 and the varieties, but all other yearsare covered.
I have a Lincoln set from 1909 to 2014. Less the 1922 no D and the 1955 DDO. I did find a nice 22 no D today at a fair price and CAC bean...just might do it
I don't have any. I'm not a cent collector. I do own a few IHC's and a couple Lincoln's for a birth year set and Dansco set, but nothing more. I am on the lookout for a 1943 MS67 steely for my graded Dansco 7070.
None. Not since I was a kid plugging pennies into a Whitman folder. A U.S. large cent collection is an idea I've entertained, but haven't yet pursued.
