Aside from it being listed as a trade dollar, it looks like a a AG-G Scratched and cleaned 1926-S Mercury dime worth about $1 or $2.

That vendor on eBay is obviously an idiot. They should be reported for fraud.Even I know that's a Mercury Dime,& I don't even live in America.

What's the betting on whether he responds to this "question to seller" sent from a throwaway ID?
    He is a real winner.

What a cracker jack!!! I sent him a message asking him if he knew the difference. Did any of you look at the rest of his listings? Looks like he's cleaned them all with a brillow pad. Its people like that that needs to be held down and beat.

I wouldn't pay melt for that dime, as I'm sure that all of the silver is not still on that coin!!

If you look at his other auctions, he has other Mercury Dimes listed. So he knows what they are. I wonder why the screwy listing?

I sent the high bidder an e-mail and 'splaned it to him. Don't have time to notify everybody.
    Update-he wrote back:
Hello! Thanks a bunch for a headsup I had looked at the coin and thought ut was kind of strange, it had looked like it was hammered together. Thus I only bid 11.00 bucks I figured if it was a fake/bad coin it would not be bad as far as money goes. Again thank you very much for the heads up. TJ PS the reverse letters to a trained eye you know it when you see it. thanks again

Sure they are fine, but it must have taken a lot of work and labor to polish them so nicely.

my golden rule now for coins on ebay: only buy the ngc and pcgs slabs on ebay. if its not slabbed, I dont buy it on ebay. although loose coins, whether on ebay or at a show, the dealers often are not trying to screw you. they often honestly believe the coin grades what they say it grades, even though they're over-grading it.,

This scumbag responded to my inquiry about using a picture of a dime for an auction of a Trade Dollar dated decades after they stopped:
Of course he hasn't changed the title to tout the dime, or the picture to show the non-existent TD. [IMG]

    He has ended it now.

"The seller ended this listing early because of an error"
