Found this afternoon but not sure what happened in the striking process. Thank you for any responses. 1951fullobv.jpg cropc.jpg cropb.jpg cropa.jpg 1951fullrev.jpg

I believe it was encased in a bezel at one time
Others will be along soon so don’t scrap it yet

It was once mounted in a lucky holder. $_3.jpg s-l500.jpg

Larry's got it! A liberated lucky penny. But as @Heavymetal points out, you will come across other coins that are enclosed in a bezel to be worn as jewelry.

The design on the holder is struck after the coin is put in the holder. That can put part of the design on the rim of the coin.

Not everything that looks different, strange or weird is automatically a mint error.

As the others stated. Previously encased cent which altered the rim. It didn't occur during the striking of the planchet.

As previously stated it crashes once encased.
