Can anyone guess why I paid $450 for this problem coin?

    The little pointy things on the bottom of the letters don't worry I had no idea what they were called either just said it in my Overton book

    No, not at all. The Overton book is massive. There are certain more popular varieties that I automatically search for, however. There are some R.5 1827's, that I don't know. And other dates too. This one having a name, though (no serifs), combined with it being a key date, makes it one that everyone can easily identify and search for.
