Hi All, I saw some people posting on here where they order coins from the federal reserve. I went into the bank the other day and asked them if they had any gold dollars (sac's) or kennedy halves and they said they may have one or two, but anymore than that they 'send back'. How does one go about getting rolls of these without paying exorbitant prices on eBay or even $35.50 for $20 worth of coins on the US Mint site? I just want them to spend, so don't want to pay much more than face value. Thanks- Nick
But, be careful about ordering, today the mint doesn't use the old $100 bags, they use pallet sized ones, and those usually contain thousands of dollars. Better to ask for a set $ amount, probably $500. But, they'll be rolled.
you could visit my bank i turned in 10 rolls of kennedys the other day ime sure that they would like you to take them off their hands
Just contact your local bank. I just ordered $1000 box, and have them setup to get me the same every month. they said if i did it every week, they'd have to charge me a fee.
My bank lets me order $200 of Halves at a time. I just see the Business Teller (Vault Teller) to order some and go back 2 days later to pick them up. I take them to a different bank (where I have a Safety Deposit Box) to turn them in for the green stuff. Then I start all over again. I just found two 1964's and fourteen (1965-1969's) in a roll of $20. They are still out there!!!!
I bank with Bank of America. They seem to always have plenty of Sac's rolls mixed with SBA's. The halfs are harder to find however. I do know that I have gone to banks that I don't have an account with and obtained rolls of coin to search through. These banks have yet to give me any grief about not having an account. I do not try and give them rolls however. Try going to main branches to find half and dollar rolls. The bigger the bank or more traffic the bank sees, the better.
My dad has an account at Bank of America and the tellers there are very friendly. They allow me to order as many halves as I want whenever I want. However, they do not come in boxes of rolls. They come loose in bags of $1000. It kind of sucks though, because I have to rewrap them ALL to turn them into another bank because there are no banks with coin counters where I live=(
When you order say 200.00 of $.50 s do they come from the mint or are they from other customers that they have rolled or bagged? Asked this befor but i must have missed the answer and can not find it now,i know alot of times the bank will give you customers turn in if you ask.thanks
When you order the coins they come from the banks cash vault. Most of the time the cash vaults sub out this work to companies like Brinks. For example all of the BofA banks send in their loose coins and they get rerolled into $500 boxes. When most people talk about ordering they come in boxes of $500. If you want the customer returns just ask the teller to get them from other tellers.
