Chance at crossover grade?

Hello, I have a 2005 silver eagle graded at ms 70. The slab was cracked when I bought it but still seemed to be a deal at $30

My question is if the cracked case will be a factor in the grading process and if there's a chance the coin won't come back at 70. Coin has minor pitting near the larger crack (next to the T) but no scratches or marks

    Thanks for any input/ info!

If there's minor pitting it ain't coming back a '70.

It is ABSOLUTELY impossible to tell if that's a 70 from those pictures.
It might not even be possible to tell if a coin is a 70 from pictures, professional or not.
And to be honest, I'm not sure it would even matter if that crossed to one of the top tier grading services anyways. It's really only bullion.

Perhaps not, but they do suggest it unlikely. His explanation makes it pretty clear though... ;)

I wouldn't be surprised if a previous owner had attempted to crack it out, but then discovered how hard it is to crack open an ICG slab. Like Greenie said, if there is pitting on the coin, it won't grade 70.

If you want to send it back to ICG for grading it might come back a 70 but it's just not worth it, you can buy an ICG 70 for about $50.
If you want to send it to NGC/PCGS hoping for 70, chances are so slim it's just not worth it.
    My advice: sell it.

zero chance. Along with the pitting near the cracks, there is some spotting near the left rays.

Why would you try to take a coin out of an MS70 slab? Are you trying to resubmit for a 71?

Why bother? It isn't a good date. It is a garden variety bullion coin. Chances are, it comes back 68 or 69 from a real grading service.
