Well here's an interesting way to sell eBay coins. List the same coin someone else is selling for more money and hope the buyer doesn't notice. Here is dbldeb selling an 1858-O seated Liberty half dollar in AU-58 condition in an old white ANACS holder. Cert # 917605. This coin is listed for $450 and notice the Buy It Now still available as of about 10 minutes ago. Now here is lowcountrycoin selling the EXACT same coin for $511.50. One seller is in Tennessee and the other is in South Carolina. Notice the same Cert # by the way. Anyone have any idea what is going on? $511.50 minus 13% eBay fees leaves the final price at $445.00. Why would someone be doing this? Who is scamming who or what?
I'm confused. At first I thought LCC was trying to outsell dbldeb and then buy it from them to send off. The math doesn't make sense though and I've purchased from LCC in the past. Even through lay a way payments for one coin. Is dbldeb fishing for a sucker to pay $450 and never ship the coin. I am so lost, what is going on here.
If the fees are correct and there is no direct profit, then perhaps they are just reaping eBay Bucks or whatever other rewards program they are involved with. EDIT: Of course LCC would be the one not possessing the coin in this case.
If you have an eBay store, it's 6% + paypal Ask me about holding real physical precious metals in an IRA or HSA plan.
I believe you receive another 20% discount if you reach power seller status as well. Seems like he's wholesaling other auctions and drop shopping. Risky business Ask me about holding real physical precious metals in an IRA or HSA plan.
This has to be some kind of consignment deal between the two sellers. Maybe dlbdeb is working with LCC because they are a Power Seller.
LCC is also selling two of the same coin http://www.ebay.com/itm/1878-7TF-VA...1382708?pt=US_World_Coins&hash=item5663ca3134 http://www.ebay.com/itm/1878-7TF-VA...36?pt=Coins_US_Individual&hash=item5d42c4cb1c Someone should buy both
Here's a cheaper one lcc is selling two http://www.ebay.com/itm/1921-Morgan...98?pt=Coins_US_Individual&hash=item5d42c4cede http://www.ebay.com/itm/1921-Morgan...1859149?pt=US_World_Coins&hash=item35d4b4664d
I read LCC's negative feedback and it appears they are running a drop ship. Common verbiage in negative feedback are 'ran out of stock', 'could not find item' and 'seller substituted item'. In some cases, buyer states seller substituted without consent or notice. If that's true then that's a bad seller, in my opinion. EDIT: Or possible they are horrible at keeping inventory. That could explain the duplicate listings.
I'm sure eBay would not allow this if they knew what was going on. Ask me about holding real physical precious metals in an IRA or HSA plan.
There's some high-value scamming going around right now on eBay involving hijacked accounts. It doesn't sound like that's what's happening here, but I found a number of auctions for multiple AGEs with the same set of certificate numbers. I don't have time to write up a discussion right now, but I'll try to remember to do it over the weekend.
it's possible LCC sold the coin offline and it relisted without them noticing. They have thousands of listings.
