Being able to correctly confirm or deny by using this photo, would be quite an achievement. I'll take your word for it.

I can't say for sure that it is from looking at the pics. There appears to be some toning developing on in at the top. I see the area that you speak of above the date area. Hard to tell what that is. I have always been told that when you have silver coins that look like they have just been released from the mint that some dipping has taken place because most silver, if it isn't protected in a air tight or anti corrosion environment should be toned after some time. My guess is that it probably was incorrectly dipped and the residue wasn't removed properly. If it has been harshly cleaned (ie rubbed or polished), using a 10x or 16x loupe should reveal hairline scratches all over the area of cleaning. If fact, if it has been really harshly cleaned, a loupe isn't even needed. If you feel that the coin hasn't been harshly cleaned, then a quick (1sec) dip in silver dip should clear up that problem as long as it isn't "stained" into the coin. Run the coin for about 5 minutes under hot water. After that I would put it through an acetone bath and see what happens. This is the routine that I use for issues like this. Good luck.

Cade, thanks for the Private Message and lecture.

I would advise against attempting any cleaning procedures, until you can have someone look at the coin in hand or at some quality photos of the coin and confirm you are not about to clean off any natural toning. That toning might also explain any color changes.

The papillary ridge impressions on the left, appear to be the same shade as the other changes in color you mention.

This coin has plenty of color changes and has not been cleaned...

I never gave you a lecture, I simply asked about a certain part of the coin, if you were trying to be instructive, you would of said, I really can't tell by the pic that was given. Instead you felt the need to type (Being able to correctly confirm or deny by using this photo, would be quite an achievement.) this is a snobby comment.
What Jace said was helpful, the fact that you feel the need to quote
what Jace said (I can't say for sure that it is from looking at the pics. ... Hard to tell what that is.) shows your feelings must of gotten hurt and for that I'm sorry.

While you are clearly trying to take charge of how I should form my sentences, I do not see anyone offering that clear opinion you seek, based on the tiny unclear photo you provided. Maybe we just need to wait a bit longer...
