Haha.... I don't know what an Edsel is.... I just would like to know if what I'm looking at is on the right track? I read the fs link and somewhat understand. This is a new hobby my 9 year old is taking a huge interest in . He loves searching through coins and asks me questions .... Lol.. I just cannot answer or seem to grasp. I guess my question is .... Is this something he should be looking for .... Because he got mighty excited
We Thank you .. For any feed back

It's worth the look for many dedicated Jefferson collectors. They love the distinction....

No. There are too many breaks in the steps.

Doesn't come anywhere near full steps IMO.

Shy, did you buy your son a Red Book? I think this would be helpful. The coin you've posted has too many breaks in the steps to be considered FS by either PCGS or NGC. PCGS is a little more lenient on this attribute, but the coin won't make it.

Notice the straight line at the top of the steps there has to be at least 5 that are unbroken all the way across to be worth a premium . Very kool that your 9 year old has taken an interest . Please buy him a 2014 Redbook . But a 2013 or even earlier would be just fine too , as they really are not a good price guide but have so much other information in them . And keep posting his questions , or you could supervise him and let him ask .

    Howdy Shy -

The link posted above explains the issue but it can be kind of hard to grasp at first. Maybe this will help, this link shows a picture of what a Full Step nickel looks like - http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl...hBwwBQ&iact=rc&dur=659&page=1&start=0&ndsp=14

Thank you soo very much.... Are you saying it's ok for him to post questions ... Because that would be wonderful ?

I'm not sure if CT has a 13 year old age limitation . I'll check the rules to see .

I couldn't find any age limit in the rules section . So I think it would be ok for him to post with your supervision . Most members love to help YN . If you want to make sure it's ok you could ask one of the moderators . Just click on their name and you'll see a , start a conversation . Hit that and ask away . Matter of fact Doug , GDJMSP is a post or 2 up .
