group of 80 low grade liberty nickels. liberty nickels are not one of my series. i don't know if these coins have been acid treated, altered, ect. what are they worth?
why would you buy a lot of coins you do not normally deal with especially in low grade? Condition is everything and you should know that. If you paid anymore than a nickel each you probably won't make money. If someone gave them to you. Might as well keep em
I see similar coins in pick bins at shows from $.50 to $1 a coin. In low grade, if its not an 85,86, 12s and maybe a couple of others, they are not worth much. As an aside, I find the fact that these coins frequently come so well worn as a cool story. These were the true workhorse coins of the era, the coin most used by the common man on the street. Nickelodeans, attractions, and many other things were all priced at a nickel. It truly is a testment to how useful this denomination was the fact that today most are very worn down.
I wonder what sort of reaction you might get if you simply put the really worn ones into circulation. Being a complete beginner, I like the ones from the pix with clear dates.
I'd be happy to find any of those in circulation. I've only found 1 "V" nickel in almost $15k searched.
I have 3 or 4 as keepsakes. When I started getting into coins, I just got some buffalo nickels, Indian heads etc. I got them all really cheap from ebay, didn't care about dates or quality....
I think you could easily get $20 for the 80 coins. Only a few aew are decent but a quarter a coin isn't bad.
