So I Googled this for a while and cannot find an answer, so I'll ask anyone here who has one: Are the coins sealed in one case plastic case like a modern proof set, or are they in capsules? Or something else? Thanks!

Yup. I only have the 1984 set but it is all sealed in one plastic case which is inside the leather outer cover. Just like the link spirityoda posted.
I'll agree. I have about 25 of the sets various years, and they're all the same, just like a very oversized mint proof set.
Thanks - I wanted to eliminate AT on this one, which would be much more likely with capsules and less likely with one sealed case. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1990-S-US-P...81?pt=Coins_US_Individual&hash=item51bb5fd799
Thanks... These sets were likely exposed to high heat/humidity and produce colors which can be likened to AT, and some graders could consider them not market acceptable. However if you're just looking at the set and the toning because you like it (and I happen to like the looks of this set), by all means go for it. He's got a few Ikes up that I'm watching that are also from the same place. Shane's a real good guy and usually is straightforward in his descriptions on the toning, and usually will tell you if they're definitely AT or not.
yeah, those cents are sweet. He's always got a good selection of toned coins, wish I had more funds...
