I know that their coins are way overpriced. But how bout their albums? I'm looking at their catalogue, and these seem rather expensive as well, but I don't really know. What I need are some good albums, which make it easy to see both sides of the coins, and protects the coins as well. I'm Wanting albums like this for Walkers, Franklins, and silver eagles. From Littleton these are all over 20 dollars, and you have to buy "protection kits" seperately for 10 dollars. Sounds kinda ridiculous to me. Anyone have suggestions about where I should purchase my albums?
    Thanks.

I purchase my Whitman Classic albums directly from Whitman or JPs Corner, a coin collectors supply store and usually cheaper than Whitmans. I like them because you can view the coins from both sides and the silver coins look nice in the blue pages and I think theyre very sturdy, Ive been using Whitman albums since I started collecting in 1977. I think alot of these guys in here use Dansco Albums. Ive never used Dansco so Ill let them tell you about those albums.

I recently bought 8 albums on Ebay. 2 dansco, 2 whitman and 4 whitman folders for .01 (That's one cent) and 5.00 shipping. JPs Corner is a great supply source , too. Look around before you buy!!!

I still need to get one of those...

I want to do two sets, one with Unc-Circ P-D-S (I think S is doing the Proofs) and then another set of P and D collected out of circulation....

I bet that one will be way harder as I never see anyone use a Coin dollar... In fact, I can't remember the last time I used one or got one in a a transaction... I guess I'll be going to the bank more...

The Dansco Pres. albums are very nice. This is my first Dansco and I must say that I am impressed.

LOL, hey smullen, that "P/D out of circulation" set would probably have to be the most valuable of the 3 since it will be the hardest and take the longest to complete!!:)

I prefer danscos personally, just because the lighter color of the album suits the coins better, IMHO

I've been using Whitman Classic albums for many years. I had one Littleton and didn't like the way the pages hung up when turning the pages so gave it away. Even trying to give it away was not easy. My experience with Dansco is they cost more than Whitman, are heavier, bigger, better made. However not as versital around here anyway. Can not get replacement pages easily for some of the albums. Also, don't like the brownish color of Dansco because they don't show up Lincoln Cents that well although on a shelf they do look more impressive. But then who puts coin albums out on display anyway. With Whitman Classic Albums you can easily acquire blank album covers, blank pages for all albums, extra plastic guides, gold leaf rub off numbers and letters that will match existing lettering on and in the albums. I have now strectched one of my Lincoln Cent Albums to 11 pages. Last two pages are for proofs from 1938 to present. All have had the little gold numbering added below by me. I've made my Mercury Dime Album into sets #1 and #2 with divider sheets loaded with coin statistics, prices, grades, etc.
However, the problem with which to buy is pending on where you live. In the Mid West Whitman Coin Albums, Books, etc are everywhere. I'm not sure but have been told that in the far West, a place called California or something like that, Dansco is the rage. Not sure what is available in the East. Not going there to find out either. Whitman used to be made in Wisconsin so that may be the reason so prevelant around here. Whitman on line is excessively expensive and talking to them they said they have to be so distributors would have a chance to make a profit also. I find the best place to buy Albums is at the coin shows around here.

Everybody seems to be transitioning to Dansco here in the east also. Theres one coin show dealer in my area that sells alot of supplies and he told me he's not ordering any more Whitmans although he has Danscos for sale. The coin shop here where I live also sells nothing but Dansco and some used Whitman Classics but only when someone comes in and sells their collection.

So, so you have to buy extra pages, and/or plastic peices for all of the albums? Or are there some that come with everything you would ever neeD?

    Adam:
You get the plastics and pages for each set, however, as the years go by there are additional pages added, as required.
I need additional pages for my Lincoln set and Jeff set, since I got them before the page ended, I guess that I'll have to write to them for more pages.

    Just Carl:
Just don't use Whitman for Barber quarters, the coins fall out and into the center of the binder, hidden by the paper covers.
Dansco are much better for these.

Funny that you should ask. I was so impressed with the Dansco Pres dollar album that I ordered the P/D state quarter album just today.

I also ordered the anti-corrosion slip covers for the Dansco albums. I wasn't too concerned about the quarters but figured the dollars were going to need all the help they can get!
